Educational Opportunities
Education is paramount in the fight against terrorism. Defeating terrorism is a long-term struggle that will challenge the best minds in our nation. It requires a new generation of scientists and engineers with capabilities in visual analytics to support the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s mission to develop the tools to identify and prevent terrorist attacks on U.S. soil.
The National Visualization and Analytics Center (NVAC™) is committed to prepare our next generation of scientists and engineers in visual analytics to serve national needs in multiple agencies, roles and functions. NVAC will engage in training and recruiting students through internships, faculty visits, joint research and curriculum development.
NVAC will concentrate on creating meaningful educational activities and interactive learning opportunities, such as simulated decision making and use of threat data scenarios for students. Students also will have the opportunity to work directly with NVAC scientists as interns in classroom and laboratory settings.
